Guy: A New Musical is one of those musicals that you properly wouldn’t rush to by tickets for by you’ll be glad you did when it starts. Set in modern times, this musical explores the feelings social media can leave you with if you don’t fit into what society deems normal.

Guy (Brendan Matthew) is an overweight gay man who longs for love, although happily content with trying to find it on Grindr, he soon comes to realise that love is all about looks.

Seann Miley-Moore does well as Aziz, a very good looking Paralegal Guy meets in the gym. The two instantly hit it off and we see Guy suddenly change who he is, he’s more confidant and more sure of himself. The chemistry between Matthew and Miley-Moore is evident on stage and although a mix match couple, they make it work.

This musical will have you going through a range of emotions with Matthew at one point feeling really low about himself, you feel sorry for the man, you want to go up there and hug him, the emotion felt real.

Steve Banks portrays Guy’s roommate Tyler as well as the chorus line. Tyler is completely different to Guy in every way, he’s more sure of himself, his tall and thin while Guy is not, Tyler clearly cares about Guy so when he finds out Guy was using his images on Grindr, you can see why he got so mad.

Adam Braidley portrays a couple of characters on stage, to a gym PT to Guy's dream man on Grindr, but is he really all he seems? Different characters for Braidley means different stances which he pulls off with no problems at all.

Overall, I think this show needs a lot of polishing, the songs, for example don’t seen quite complete and I felt some songs went on a bit too long but this doesn’t pull focus from what is essentially a very well written and through provoking piece of theatre.

The jokes in the show are young and fresh and I found it highly relatable as a late 20 something year old living in today society.

Writen by duo Leoe Mercer and Stephen Hyde, this is one show that gets to the realness of todays self-absorbed world.

Guy: A new musical is currently playing at the Kings Head Theatre, N1 until the 1st September 2018.

The Songs are sweet and enjoyable, however, I feel somewhat unpolished.
