Queereteria TV ★✰✰✰✰
What do you get when you ask a university professor and a toddler who’s told they’re allowed to use loads of naughty words write a show? … No, it’s not a trick question, the answer is Queetereria TV.
I’m not quite sure where to start while I sit here and write a review on possibly one of the worst things that’s happened to Off West End since … I have nothing.
There’s no story line, it’s just a show case for Andy Bell who was in a band call Erasure in the 80’s/90’s and who said his lines as if he was still reading from the script and forgot how to read commas and full stops. The Writer, Barney Ashton-Bullock had even written in a part from himself, his lack of acting training was apparent.
Queerteria is a two hour musical fully of big words put together that made no sense with the words cunt, bullocks, shit, wanker penis, dick and ass thrown in for good measure.
The show was clunky, the choreography was badly put together that the two dancers on stage, (Tom Mann & William spencer, who also happened to be the Choreographer), looked as if they were having fits, I looked around to see if anyone had 999 on speed dial
Matthew Baldwin played the second lead, Lady Domina Bizarra, a drag queen who created the end of the world, I like him, he was the only actor on stage who had clearly any kind of experience and I thought his drag act was entertaining, it could have been better, but unfortunately he was reading from one of worst scripts you could imagine.
The use of the LCD screens on stage added some atmosphere to the show, unfrotuantly, it didn’t make it any better.
Queereteria TV is on at Above the Stag theatre in Vauxhall until the 28th April 2019.
